I Beat the Blur, do you?

I doubt a lot of people know that I’m actually bespectacled haha. Well, I have myopia since I was like.. 11 or 12? Small Aloy used to wear spectacles to school but I turned to contact lenses at the age of 14. Months ago, I realized that despite my wearing of contact lenses, I was still suffering from blurred vision. First thing that came to mind was… myopia worsened. I didn’t think much of it and so, I didn’t seek professional help.

I started facing various issues and poor vision affected the quality of my life. Driving became a chore because I couldn’t identify certain letters or numbers. My badminton and basketball games were affected as well. Performance dropped drastically due to my double vision. Reaction and reflexes were slower than usual. My confidence took a hit due to blurred vision and it affected my performance at work. I guess I knew something about my vision wasn’t quite right. I felt frustrated and sometimes embarrassed but just persisted.

A short while ago, I was involved in an episode of Joy Truck. We went to the Singapore Association of the Visually Handicapped to help raise money for the association. The two days of interaction with the people there were really enriching. An uncle who lost his vision due to improper care told us how important our eyes and vision are. He spoke with so much melancholy and regret. Only then, I realized the importance of proper eye care and eye health. That was when I decided it’s time to visit an Eye Care Professional to get my eyes checked.

I only got to know that I was suffering from astigmatism after I went for an eye examination. To be honest, before I was diagnosed as an astigmat, I had very little knowledge about astigmatism. I have always thought that it was just a condition whereby our eyes are more sensitive to light. Ignorant ignorant ignorant…

Well, in short..
